Kevin Henkes delivers yet another lovely and sensitive story about a little one experiencing and coming to terms with her differences from other children.

Little Chrysanthemum is a happy, vibrant, creative and confident little mouse, but her unsual name marks her for teasing and unwanted attention right from the very first day of kindergarten.  While her parents are able to comfort her with hugs, kisses and games of Parcheesi, she still comes home from school every day feeling like an outsider.

In the end, of course, Chrysanthemum is redeemed and triumphant.  This book should be a big help to any child about to go to kindergarten, as they are all different in big or small ways, and they all have to learn how to deal with being teased and overcoming it.
