My four-year-old son truly adores trains -- like most his age -- so this book had instant appeal for him.  While I liked the story of a rebellious steam engine that tries to run away before he can be retired to the locomotive scrap heap, this book is deeply marred by an ugly and outdated protrayal of Native Americans.  Perhaps I'm being a bit politically correct here, but this flaw was difficult to overlook and made me cringe every time that I read it.
